Austin’s genre for his photography is landscape. The subject matter for his photos is also landscape since there is nothing in the images other than the landscape itself. He keeps the subject matter realistic and he takes the image in its natural state so that it is just a direct observation. In his images he makes it so that the horizon line is in a completely straight line and the image is half sky and half land. I think that he framed his subject matter in this way so that he can enhance his image because it makes it more eye-catching since it isn’t like most landscape photographs. The only shapes that are rectangles since it is as though he has split the image into two. For Austin to take this photo he would have had to think about whether he was going to use a tripod or not because her him to take this kind of image he would have to think about how fast or slow he should make the shutter speed, the size of his aperture and he would have to make sure that if he uses a slow shutter speed then he will need to use a tripod otherwise his images have the possibility of being blurry or the horizon line not being straight. I think that Brendan Austin attempted to create calming atmosphere because the colours of the photo aren’t jumping out at you, they are more neutral. In my opinion I think that his attempt was successful considering the only way I can describe my feelings about this image is that it is very calming. I think that these kinds of images are effective because they are not like your average landscape photo. His images connect to my project because when I look at this image it makes me think that he trying to make his photo's of landscape look more natural than what they first seem to be.

My edits-
Developments-
I created these developments by placing some landscape images into Photoshop and using the motion blur edit but making sure that you are still able to tell what the actual photograph is. I did this because the original images are based on straight lines, so by me doing this kind of development it makes you concentrate more on the straight lines within the edits.
